Mark H. Caponegro, CPL
Mark Caponegro, CPL, is a senior landman at Faulconer Energy in Tyler, Texas, where he is responsible for all land-related matters for assets located in East Texas and the Texas Gulf Coast. His responsibilities include overseeing lease maintenance and curative efforts, A&D work, land guidance for operations, surface owner response and business development.
Prior to joining Faulconer in 2022, Caponegro spent 12 years as a field landman at HPS Oil & Gas Properties Inc. in Lafayette, Louisiana, performing all phases of landwork for a variety of clients in multiple basins across the country.
He graduated from Louisiana State University in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in business and a minor in geology and later earned his Master of Legal Studies in oil, gas and energy law from the University of Oklahoma, which is one of AAPL’s accredited graduate programs.
Joining AAPL in 2012, Caponegro has volunteered on the Accreditation Committee since 2019 and served as its chair in 2020-21. He also has been a member of a variety of local associations, including East Texas Association of Petroleum Landmen, the Lafayette Association of Professional Landmen, the Houston Association of Professional Landmen and the Baton Rouge Association of Professional Landmen.
He and his wife, Abby, live in Tyler, and are blessed with three beautiful children: George, 6, Arthur, 4, and Mary June, 2. He loves the outdoors and spends his free time hunting and fishing with his family in South Louisiana and Mississippi.
